Learning Assistance Services
OSMB is an introductory activity regarding the learning process at Universitas Terbuka. The purpose of OSMB is to introduce new students to the general university environment and the distance learning environment at Universitas Terbuka. This program also aims to help new students understand national insight, intelligent education, and academic and social responsibilities as students. OSMB at UT must be held by the Regional UT leadership at least once per semester in the city where the Regional UT is located. All new students are encouraged to participate in OSMB and are entitled to receive an OSMB kit. For new students who are unable to attend the OSMB event, they must study the OSMB material contained in the OSMB kit, namely (1) Getting to Know UT; (2) National Life, State Life, and Fostering National Defense Awareness; (3) Higher Education System; (4) Environmental Awareness and Healthy University; (5) Independent Learning in the UT Distance Learning System; (6) UT Library Services; (7) UT Information Sources; and (8) UT Code of Ethics.
PKBJJ is a program designed to equip students with the skills and strategies needed to effectively face the challenges of distance learning. The program provides practical self-guided guidance on how to manage time, motivate yourself, communicate with tutors and classmates, and access various learning resources optimally in a digital environment. Through this training, UT students will feel more confident in overcoming challenges that may arise when studying independently and remotely, and can optimize their academic experience with better results.
TTM is a learning assistance service provided by Universitas Terbuka (UT) which is carried out directly in class face to face between tutors and students. This tutorial aims to spur students' independent learning process, discuss, and discuss things that are considered difficult and very important for students to master. TTM is only given to students who take the Semester Package System (Sipas). TTM is carried out eight times over eight weeks with a duration of 120 minutes for each meeting. There are three tutorial assignments, which are given at the 3rd, 5th, and 7th meetings. The TTM score is the sum of the assignment score of 70% plus the participation score (attendance and student activity in class) of 30%. The TTM score has a 50% contribution to the final grade of the course, with the provision that the Final Semester Exam (UAS) score is greater than 30%. Students are entitled to a TTM score if they attend at least 5 meetings, if less than 5 meetings then students get a score of zero.
Tuton is an internet-based tutorial service or web-based tutorial (WBT) offered by UT for students. Tuton aims to provide an in-depth and focused learning experience through direct interaction with tutors. Through this tutorial, students can understand the material in more depth, interact with fellow students to share understanding, and ask questions to tutors to clarify difficult concepts asynchronously. Online tutorials also support an independent learning approach, strengthen written communication and technology skills, and provide continuous feedback for optimal academic development. Tuton is held every semester for eight weeks. The contribution of the tutoring value to the final grade is a maximum of 30%. The maximum value can be obtained if students become active participants in carrying out the tutorial, namely reading the initiation, responding by asking questions or responses, discussing, and working on assignments in initiations 3, 5 and 7.
Tuweb is one form of optimizing learning assistance services provided by UT to students during the COVID-19 pandemic, as a replacement for Face-to-Face Tutorials (TTM). By utilizing the video conference application, namely Microsoft Teams, students can follow tutorials given by tutors synchronously. Even though the pandemic is over, Tuweb services are still provided to students.
Radio tutorial is a learning assistance service in the form of internet radio which is one of the programs of UT-Radio. Through this radio tutorial, UT students and the general public can listen to live (on-demand) course tutorial broadcasts, thus creating real-time interaction through chat or online comments.
Dry lab is a computer-assisted learning enriched with videos, photos, animations, audio, and graphics. This program is offered by UT for students to be able to do virtual practicums. In addition, this program is directed to help with practical work on courses, overcoming practical work obstacles, especially in the provision of chemical materials, sophisticated equipment or laboratories.
