SINTA Data Update Workshop, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training (FKIP) UT

South Tangerang, October 18, 2024 – The Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, Universitas Terbuka (FKIP UT) has again taken a strategic step in improving its academic quality and competitiveness by holding a Data Updating Workshop on SINTA. This hybrid event invited all FKIP UT lecturers, both from the center and regional UT units, to update and manage their research data on the SINTA (Science and Technology Index) platform. SINTA, as a research indexing system in Indonesia, plays an important role in the assessment and academic reputation of researchers and institutions at the national and international levels.

The event was opened with remarks from Prof. Dr. Ucu Rahayu, M.Sc., Dean of FKIP UT, who emphasized the urgency of updating data on SINTA in supporting the development of lecturers’ academic careers and increasing FKIP UT’s research contribution on the global stage. Prof. Ucu said in his remarks, “SINTA is not just a research data reporting system, but also an important instrument in assessing the quality and impact of lecturers’ research. With data that is always updated and relevant, FKIP UT can improve its SINTA ranking, which will ultimately bring great benefits to the reputation of the faculty and each individual lecturer in the eyes of national and international academics.”

This workshop presented the main speaker Dr. Ahmad Yani, M.Pd., a lecturer at FKIP UT who is experienced in managing academic data and utilizing SINTA. In his presentation, Dr. Ahmad explained in detail the right steps to update research data, starting from scientific publications, community service activities, to managing research profiles in SINTA. The material presented was designed to be practical and applicable, so that every lecturer can easily follow each stage in updating data.

Dr. Ahmad also explained the importance of consistency in updating research data in SINTA. “In an increasingly competitive academic world, the position of lecturers is not only determined by the number of publications, but also by how quickly and consistently they update their research data in SINTA. This reflects how active lecturers are in research and community service activities, which ultimately affects the overall SINTA ranking,” he said.

In addition to the material from the speakers, the participants also received direct technical assistance from the SINTA UT operator. With this assistance, each lecturer is expected to not only understand the theory, but also be able to directly practice how to update their data during the workshop. This assistance is provided personally, especially to lecturers who may experience technical difficulties in the data updating process.

This workshop was attended by 125 FKIP UT lecturers, both from the center and from regional units. The enthusiasm of the participants was very high, which was seen from the active interactions and discussions throughout the activity. Lecturers from various regions of Indonesia, who were connected virtually, participated intensively in questions and answers and technical consultations related to the problems they faced in updating data in SINTA. This shows the increasing awareness among FKIP UT lecturers about the importance of keeping research data up to date.
