Orientation Activities for PPG Participants for Certain Teachers Phase 3 of 2024 FKIP-UT

South Tangerang, October 2, 2024 – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Terbuka (FKIP-UT) successfully held an online Orientation Activity for Participants in the Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG) for Certain Teachers Phase 3 in 2024 via the Zoom platform.

A total of 1,276 participants from 16 provinces in Indonesia participated in this activity. This activity aims to provide an initial understanding of the PPG Program, prepare participants mentally and academically, improve teacher competence, explain the certification process to obtain a teacher certificate, and build networks between participants. In addition, this orientation also provides a question and answer session to answer various questions asked by the participants.

In the Report of the Head of the PPG Study Program, FKIP-UT, Dr. Andayani, M.Ed., it was stated that although the majority of participants had reported themselves, there were still 21 students who had not completed the reporting process. “We hope that they will report themselves soon so that they can participate in this program optimally,” he added.

This activity was also filled with remarks from the Dean of FKIP-UT, Prof. Dr. Ucu Rahayu, M.Sc., who emphasized the importance of the role of PPG in producing professional, competent, and prosperous teachers. “This PPG transformation is focused on accelerating the acquisition of teacher certificates for teachers who are already in office, in a more efficient and effective way,” he explained.

The official opening ceremony was carried out by the Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Business UT, Rahmat Budiman, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., who delivered an important message to the participants. He emphasized that the teachers selected to participate in the PPG for Certain Teachers had gone through a strict selection process and showed great potential as agents of change in the world of education. “The learning process received by participants is an investment from the government for your future as educators, and this program is a golden opportunity to hone skills and deepen understanding,” he said. He also reminded participants that even though the learning duration is only three months, this program will still provide valuable learning experiences through the Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM).

In addition, this orientation activity was also filled with presentations from experienced speakers. Dr. Andayani, M.Ed. delivered material on the Transformation of Teacher Professional Education (PPG) for Certain Teachers (In-Service), while Dr. Rif’at Shafwatul Anam, M.Pd. explained about Permendikbudristek Number 19 of 2024 which regulates Teacher Professional Education. Tri Yulianto, S.T., M.A. and Heri Saputra closed the session with a guide to using PMM for education certification.

Through this orientation activity, it is hoped that participating teachers can begin their journey in PPG with a strong understanding, be ready to face challenges, and have a commitment to contribute to improving the quality of education in Indonesia.
